Artento Divini

A well-known artist once said: "Making and playing music is like a reflex, I just can't control it". And a reflex it is for one of Holland's former talents who is taking the world of dance music by storm. Many DJs have made it to the top and so did numerous producers. But there are only so many people who are skilled enough to let both DJ-ing and producing go hand in hand to create a perfect synergy. One of those artists who possess everything a DJ and producer needs, is Artento Divini.

At the age of 19 the young and enthusiastic Ard Schilderink discovers the world of house music after being a successful cyclist and seeing many parts of Europe. His love for four measured beats starts to grow on him and resulted in buying his very own pair of turntables. Just like every DJ he started practicing the art of mixing, which lead to competing in several mixing contests and, even more important, conquering these gauntlets. In 2002 Artento headlined the Brazilian festival Eco System and ended up touring this country for over three months and playing small hotspots in a.o. Manaus and other cities bordering the Amazon River.

After only 4 years of performing as a DJ Artento was asked to close the “High Contrast” stage at the 2009 edition of Trance Energy. An new era arises as Artento signed a records deal with “High Contrast Recordings”. His latest release on HCR “Biding my time” was played by all major DJ’s you can imagine. From Armin’s “A State of Trance” to Tiësto’s “Club Life”, they’ve all played and supported big time. His new single “Who’s Next”, will be released on HCR in January 2010. Besides his own release Artento recently finished his remix of the classic by Kay D & Marc Tall “Hoipolloi”. Besides Trance Energy 2009 Artento also showed of his skills at Dance Valley 2009 and Defqon 2009. Two of the biggest dance festivals in Holland.

Trying out different styles of music, slowly his sound developed into the style Divini plays nowadays. In 2006 Artento and his former partner in crime Melvin Warning added a new chapter to his star shooting career by producing the massive club hit 'Divini & Warning - 4LB'. Tiësto played it at Sensation White during his 30 minutes surprise-guest-performance, Armin van Buuren started off his set at Dance Valley 2006 playing '4LB' and Sander van Doorn even used this 'Radio 538 Dance Smash Hit' on his Dance Valley mix compilation, so the impact of this first release was extremely big. Their second single 'Chaib' was dedicated to a special friend who sadly passed away after being involved in a diving accident at the island of Curacao. Artento Divini: "He lives on in our hearts, also through this record".

At some point Divini and Warning both decided to pick up their solo careers again and separated ways. Soon Artento's first solo release had reached the CD wallets of many renowned DJs. 'Pulse' was released on 2Play Records and even Eddie Halliwell played this track on his BBC 1 radio show. But the biggest solo-hit till now was yet to come. 'Reflex' has really established Artento Divini's name within the scene; Sander van Doorn's DOORN Records picked up this future classic release and made it get stuck at the number two spot of the Beatport-charts for several weeks. Even Australia and New-Zealand will be Reflexed, Central Station has signed this belter exclusively for named territory.

Together with DJ Jochen Miller Artento released tracks such as “The Emporium Anthem of 2008”, “One Way” and they bootlegged David Guetta’s “Love is Gone” and One Republic’s “Apologize”. After the success of “One Way” they released “Many Years’ early 2009 at Dedicated Records. An amazing release that will surely surprise and definately not disappoint you.

Their Artento Divini vs Jochen Miller project will slightly differ from the Divini & Miller sound; 'No Backup' is not as trancy as their other tracks, but once Reset releases this quality production, you will witness the damage it will do throughout the scene. Both 'Many Years' and 'No Backup' were released in November of 2008.

Artento's remixes have also become very popular, he has rebuilt tracks like 'Jochen Miller - Lost Connection'' (Marco V started off his set with this one at Sensation White 2008), 'Fausto - Lupara' and the near future will show that Divini has got some more remix tricks up his sleeve. Also his bootlegs have become enormously popular, Depeche Mode's 'Personal Jesus' and 'Hide U' by Kosheen were given the Artento treatment and both go down a storm on the dance floor. The sound of Artento Divini can be described as a mixture of minimal rhythms, trancy influences and rough driving sounds. Divini: "My creative brain seems unstoppable, it just goes on and on and on. Like someone once said: 'It's like a reflex, I just can't stop it'. So maybe I've come down with the same disease as that guy, who knows..."
